Fourth London EdTech Week

London EdTech Week returns this week.

It will run for the fourth time between Monday 20th June to Sunday 26th June 2022. The week long event will have a variety of sessions centered on the theme of the ‘Now and Next of the future and of learning and work’.

After the accelerated, global use of technology since the Spring of 2020, it will be an exciting focus for the next steps of technology on a global scale.

If you have not come across London EdTech Week before, here is an overview of what it is and when it started.

London EdTech week first started in June 2017 by the co-founder of London EdTech Week and EdTechXGlobal, Benjamin Vedrenne-Cloquet. It ran from 19th to 23rd June and involved ten educational technology organisations that highlighted the future of education in London. The main focus was on a week long of ‘collaborative and community-led approaches’ that connected ten leading educational technology organisations from EdtechXGlobal, British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA), EdTech Exchange, Google for Education, The Edtech Podcast, Emerge Education, Nesta, TES Global, University College London (UCL) and UK Education Weekly. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in various activities such as conferences, meet-ups, cocktail events, product demonstrations, awards and launch parties (1).

This week, technology organisations hosting events include:

  • AND Digital
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Building Engineering Services Association (BESA)
  • EdTech Evidence Group
  • EDUCATE
  • Ufi Ventures

On a personal basis, I have a soft spot for London EdTech Week as I attended the very first event back in June 2017. I was part of a live panel podcast hosted by The EdTech Podcast (Sophie Bailey) and Nesta (2). During the podcast discussion, we explored the value of EdTech and whether EdTech is a thing yet. I am therefore excited to learn more about this year’s theme.

So if you are an EdTech enthusiast, innovator or educator looking to connect, learn and network with stakeholders within the EdTech sphere, then London EdTech Week is for you.
